All Box headsets are engineered and crafted using our Oversized Technology. As we follow the load paths down the handlebars, through the stem-to-bar interface, we arrive at the headset focal point. Since any steering stiffness can easily be lost to headset play, we have concentrated our attention on manufacturing tolerances and quality of materials for the bearing, CNC bearing cover, and crown race. Now that this junction is steadfast you can rest assured that your cockpit’s steering stiffness will transfer onto the fork. When combined with Box’s other Oversized components, you’ll experience heightened responsiveness and reduced latency. Key differences: In this particular model headset we’ve gone to a 1.5” bottom race to fill a tapered head tube. This mates with our oversized X5 carbon fork. Larger and smoother contact areas spread the load effectively and counteract flex. The GeoShift Performance Angle Headset allows you to adjust the geometry of your bike by changing the head tube angle, available in 1 or 2 degree options. This unique design lets the bearings sit at an angle to align with the steerer tube, preventing creaking noises commonly found with angle headsets that feature a spherical design. Reduce the head tube angle to make for slacker geometry and added stability on fast descents, or increase the angle using the opposite orientation of the headset, to make for steeper geometry and quicker steering with maximum front wheel traction. - Enduro black oxide coated chromium steel bearing included on both the upper and lower - Upper headsets ship with a star nut which can only be used on forks with steel or aluminum steerer tubes. These EC headsets are for frames with external bearing cups, which places the bearing outside of the frame with these headsets. Wolf Tooth Precision Headsets for Trek Knock Block are machined in the USA out of aircraft grade aluminum with superior sealing for protection against the elements. These upper headsets are for Trek frames with molded-in internal bearing cups. - Designed to work with Trek's Knock Block system - The top cap on these headsets have unique raised features that key to Knock Block compatible stems (made by Bontrager - If spacers are needed, you will need to use special Knock Block compatible spacers with notch features - This product is the upper headset only - Lower headsets on bikes with Knock Block do not have any unique features.
